December Home Maintenance Reminders

These key tasks are easily forgotten but very important when it comes to taking care of your home. If you’re not careful, these simple home maintenance items can be skipped or put off and you can end up having that house in the neighborhood with a list of expensive, but possibly could-have-been-prevented repairs. Paste the list into your calendar each month for easy reference.

December Home Maintenance Reminders

* Test GFCI outlets

* Test smoke and CO (Carbon Monoxide) detectors. Change batteries if needed. If the covers are yellow, consider replacing the detectors. Have you seen the Nest Monitors?

* Check outlets and switches for wear and damage

* If you haven’t done so already, winterize your sprinkler system

* Check your gas-fired furnance to be sure a bright blue flame is visible along the entire length of burning pipes. Yellow flame or excessive rust should be looked at by a professional

* Review our Year-End Checklist for additional tips on how to save money

Have a happy and safe Holiday!
