Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas – Traffic Impact

With preparations for the event well underway, and our OutRival Racing athletes getting in tip top shape, we want to make sure that you’re prepared for one of the things that will definitely be affecting us mortals on that date (May 18,2013) : traffic.

The bottom line: Some major arteries in The Woodlands and Magnolia will be affected by the bike and run portions of the race, starting from about 7:30AM (when the pros are projected to exit the water) through the evening (bike cutoff is 5:30PM), with the race officially ending on midnight.

The fine points

Start identifying an alternate route – Review the maps provided here (courtesy of and look for other ways to get to your destination. For example, you might want to avoid Woodlands Parkway altogether.

Sneak in – If you want to come on out and cheer on your athlete(s), the best way to get into Market Street and The Woodlands Mall is through Lake Woodlands, or from I-45.

Be patient! – Folks have been training for years to participate in one of the most difficult Ironman races around the world. Give them a brake – or a high-five!
