US Padel Tennis National Team… here?

Our team recently found out that the USA Padel Association is recruiting for a junior Padel team that will have the privilege of representing the United States in the 2013 World Championship this fall in Argentina – right here in our area.

The Club, the premier tennis and padel tennis club in The Woodlands area, is currently hosting tryouts for junior players, ages 14, 16 and 18, and, having three international padel tennis courts in the USA, will be the training grounds for the very first US Junior National Padel Team.

But what exactly is Padel? Simply put, it’s a racquet sport that is typically played in doubles in an enclosed  court about half the size of a tennis court. It’s a sport that is played extensively in Latin America, Spain, and is spreading quickly across Europe and now the United States.

“Padel is very similar to tennis. Transition to padel is extremely easy if you already play tennis or another racquet sport. And even if you’re doing this for the first time, it can be very addictive,” said Fernando Alarcon, General Manager of The Club. “We’re honored and grateful of being selected the training venue of of the US Junior National Team, and we have seen an increase in the number of people that are willing to try it out.”

“We are encouraging young players to give padel a try. Tennis players are falling in love with the sport, its dynamics, and the fact that they can potentially represent the United States in a world championship,” said Claudio Trevisan, Head Coach of the US Jr. Padel Tennis Team. “Training will be intensive – but the payoff can be huge.”

If you have a young one that would be interested in trying out for the National team, you can contact Coach Claudio through The Club’s main number 832.559.7443, or Fernando Alarcon at – For a quick video on these news, follow this link.
